The Ceremony will be held at the edge of the world in Santa Cruz, California, just outside the Seymour Marine Discovery Center and near a large skeleton of a Gray Whale. The location offers a beautiful view of the Pacific Coast, along with walking trails and benches for anyone interested in a stroll. Despite the ocean waves and giant whale skeleton beside us making for the perfect setting, Jenny absolutely refuses to let our Officiant make whale noises as part of his speech.
For the Reception, we’ll then move inside where there will be food, drinks, dancing, an aquarium exhibit, even a touch pool! Flowers for the wedding are all being hand-crafted out of paper by Jenny, her slavesbridesmades, our mothers, and several other friends.
You may be asking why we decided to get married with a giant dead whale as our backdrop. Well, while a marine center might not be the most typically romantic location, we can do a lot of good by being there. All proceeds for the wedding go straight into research and aquarium maintenance. Thanks to Jenny’s lifelong obsession with all things aquatic, you can contribute to saving dolphins, raising baby sharks, and even testing the pH levels of the southern Bay Area!
Congrats Jen and Jae! Please let me know what time the wedding starts and time frame for reception…I have a high school and girl friend get together the same weekend and need to make plans. Thanks, Aunt Kathy, Kel & Ry
